Has anyone ever heard of anyone using a grain-free, soy-free feed (could be homemade), successfully with quail?

Thank You,

Soy free yes, grain free, no.  You're way overthinking this.

Em Ty,

Not overthinking, just a bit concerned that I may become allergic to the eggs as I'm grain-free d/t extensive allergies.  :)  I think I'll just try to stick with soy and corn free as well as organic/non GMO.  At least that is my present thought unless it's way too costly and I can't find anything in my area.  Shipping a bag costs about as much as the feed itself or sometimes more than the feed so this doesn't seem like a viable option.

I did purchase my incubators.  About 3 1/2 to 4 weeks until the eggs arrive.  I opted to go with JMF Pharaoh's.  I'm really excited!

If you can get non GMO & soy free, great.  If not, try for non-GMO and see how that goes.

I know it takes a lot longer and a lot more effort, but it's amazing to see them hatch and they're the cutest things you'll ever see when they're less than a week old.  Good luck with everything.

It looks like I've got baby rabbits coming tonight.  I'm pretty excited, even though they're pretty ugly until they get older.  I can only hope that they get their mother's disposition.  She's the sweetest.  I'm going to be crying in 10-12 weeks.

EmTy,

There are options out there, but shipping costs make them almost ridiculous and I'm surely not going to try to make my own at this point.  What takes a lot longer and a lot more effort?

Are these your first rabbits?  That's going to be my next venture.  I think rabbits should be easier than quails, but I could be wrong.  I heard breeding them could get tricky.  What type of rabbits are you raising?  I haven't decided on a rabbit breed yet, but that's my next adventure.  It might not happen this year, but soon.

Hope all works out well for you,

SuseyQ
