Chalaza Outside of Egg?

Anyone?

Performed search within the BYC website on the word "Chalaza." Viewed some interesting pictures.

But why is my hen laying this? My hens have adequate access to oyster shell calcium.
 
Try searching "lash eggs". Threads on that topic may provide the answers you're looking for.

I've never gotten anything like that, so I'm not much help :/
 
I don't think that's a lash egg....it's basically a softshell egg with excess trailing membrane.
How old is the bird that laid it and how long has she been laying?

I'm betting it's new layer.....or an older layer at end or beginning of cycle(before or after molting)
