One of my chickens has gone MIA. I don't live in an area with too many predators so I don't think that happened but I'm worried that she hopped a fence. One of her wings is clipped and I think she jumped on something in our yard and then flew to the top of the fence and then over.

How likely do you think is it that she'll come back? I had to go back to work so I couldn't keep looking for her and my husband doesn't get home for a couple more hours. I'm just worried that she's gone forever. We'll look again this evening when we know she'll try to roost, but wish us luck.

Predators are everywhere and very stealthy. If she hoped the fence she would have stayed close, look in the morning, hopefully she will appear. Chickens get attached to their coops and territory, so she should stay close, good luck, hoping she's there in the morning.

When i was new to chickens 2 of my chickens went missing, one went missing a lot. The 2 chickens didn't appear that night and we have predators EVERYWHERE. The next morning we found the 2 running back to their coop, I quickly caged them up. I hope you find your chicken!

If you haven't found her by now, go outside with a flashlight and look up on all the tree branches around your place. About a year or two ago, there was a posting similar to yours. Guess where they found their missing chicken. Even with a clipped wing, your girl may have been able to get up into a tree if the branches are close together and low to the ground.

Several months ago, I lost one of my hens. She went missing early in the day, and I do have a lot of very serious large predators. I searched all day long, and I was doing one final search late in the afternoon when I spotted my hen way up a hill where the wild turkeys had been hanging out earlier. My hen had joined the turkeys early in the day, was free-ranging with them, and when they moved on, she was left all by herself.

She probably would have returned on her own, but when I saw her, I was so relieved she wasn't just the pile of feathers I was expecting to find, I climbed the hill and picked her up and carried her home, hugging her tightly with great relief and love.

I hope you find your hen, too.
