Slow crop with ascarids

Nearly 2 year old RIR. It feels like 5 lbs or more.

She has ascarids. I thought the birds might have increased risk due to the snowy and wet weather, recently. A fecal test found them in another bird. I gave them some garlic water, which often makes them pass some small worms, if they are having trouble, which she did, in a muddy dropping. I think there was a dead one, and the next was moving. One dropping was also watery. Others look like bits put together. I can't find any blood.

But she also started leaving something in her crop in the morning. It feels like whole corn kernels, which were in their reach. (I've tried to remove most of them, now, though. A couple other birds may have had a bit in their crops as well, but no longer do. I've seen them eat them before without problem, but I suppose it's important to keep them only on softer food if they have worms.) She still has a good appetite and I try to give her easy to digest food, but she still leaves these kernels in her crop. They may be too big to try to vomit? The first morning, I did vomit out maybe a couple mL of liquid, but she and a couple others were already up enough to meet me at the door, so she could have taken a drink before that. It had a little smell of some kind, and darkish color, but no solids that I saw. (I have an extra water container for them, which someone had muddied by scratching, probably. I had just filled it late the previous night.) The crop sags a bit, sometimes, but sometimes massaging helps it pick up. I made her a light fabric crop supporter to help hold it up for now.

She is not on garlic water, anymore. I was thinking of giving her Wazine, but I have two concerns: I'm wondering if the garlic water made worms bunch up in her, somewhere. If they are bunched up, would it be easier for her to deal with them if they were dead? I want to reduce the chances of an impaction, if possible. Any advice to prevent that, or in case that happens?

She doesn't seem to want to drink much. I don't know if that is because I've been giving her moist things. (Few of them seem to be interested in water in the morning, but they do eventually drink.) She doesn't seem to be dehydrated, but I tubed her around 5 ccs of fluid just to help keep her crop rinsed. I moved the crop a little and then pulled up a tiny bit of fluid in the end of the tube. I don't think it smelled bad. I might need to tube her the Wazine to make sure she gets dosed. How much should I give? Also, how should I clean the tube, afterwards? Is dish soap enough?

She is also in the middle of lice treatment with permethrin, though she's been dust bathing so I have trouble finding them, though I'm sure she still has eggs on her.

I have a place in the house for her to sleep, but she tries to get out to the coop at bedtime, so I let her. I also let her outside in a patch of small weeds where she doesn't get long pieces, but can get grit and see her friends. She likes scrambled egg. She also likes oatmeal, but I don't know if that counts as a whole grain to avoid.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it were me, I would forget Wazine and get some Valbazen or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer or horse paste. They get most of the other worms, while Wazine only gets round worms. Also Wazine is used in the water, and you never know if they are getting enough. Valbazen dosage is 1/2 ml once orally, and repeated in 10 days. SafeGuard (fenbendazole) is 1/4 ml or cc per pound (so 1.25 cc for 5 lb) orally for 5 straight days. Valbazen is sold at Rural King and Southern States, but not at TSC. Check yur local stoes or order online. https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail...U8m1yDwFCxL-g7UmH_6RkoXqjjKHAekylYaAhNp8P8HAQ

I heard her cracking a few kernels. It scared me at first to hear pops but she takes in another then pop and sometimes a crackle. Ill look into those wormers. I was thinking of giving her something that has a lower dead worm load to start then a broad spectrum to follow but Ill see.

Actually, those two are pretty safe, since they work over time. It used to be thought to use Wazine first, but then it was found not necessary.

At first, all I could find in stores was Wazine. It took a while, but I found 2 other choices, today, and bought them:

SafeGuard fenbendazole 0.5% multi species pellets has instructions for turkeys and larger animals. It's not a liquid. I might be able to get some birds to eat it, but I don't know about force-feeding pellets if they don't like them. Is there a way to make it a liquid?

Strike III Hygromycin B medicated feed, which I don't know much about. Again, it's not a liquid. I don't know if it is as safe as the ones suggested above.

Wazine might work short term, if I need to order something. This piece of land has not been exposed to it, as far as I know, so resistance is hopefully not high. (I suppose you can never be sure, though. Everything from run-off to shoes can possibly compromise that.) I would prefer something I could administer to each bird that would better help, though.

No Tractor Supply Stores near you? They have Safeguard liquid for goats and Safeguard or Panacur paste for horses. Return the pellets and get the liquid or paste.

I'll call them again in the morning. I thought I had asked about them, but maybe there was a misunderstanding.

If you asked for chicken wormers, they aren't gonna tell you about Safeguard. Ask for liquid Safeguard *goat* wormer in the 125 ml bottle. Don't worry that it doesn't list chickens, it's perfectly fine to use in all poultry. Use the amount that Eggcessive recommended. Ignore the dosing on the bottle... It's for goats, and goats get *much* less per pound than poultry, dogs and cats.

I got it. They had paste too but liquid is probably easier to measure. I also got some 3cc syringes and gas line tubing and vinyl to link them together. The vinal seems too hard to use as the tube but the gas line is soft. Ill melt the end and see...
