Any opinions on how much space button quail do best with?

The smallest cage size I'd be comfortable with for any button cage (even for a single button) is 2'x2'x2', though some say a square foot will do for a pair. IMO 2'x2' is required to give them room to move about - but a pair or a trio could live in that cage as well. More than 3 birds and I'd add a little space. But bigger is always better. 2 x 4 feet for a trio is good, imo - it allows them to get a comfortable distance to me when I'm cleaning the cage or feeding them, and it enables me to place fake plants, tunnels, houses, small logs, stones and so on in the cage while still leaving room for them to move. And 2 feet high to allow them to fly a little - mine like to stretch their wings in the morning, in particular. Some make the cages so low the birds almost can't fly, to prevent boinking injuries - I prefer to pad the top with tulle, foam rubber or similar, rather than restricting their movements too much.

Ok, cool. thanks for your post! Just wanted to make sure I'm definitely giving my birds enough space.
