City Girl loving the country style of living

Thread Starter

Hello all,

After putting in my time as a fellow grunt worker for the establishment, I have retired and decided to smell the roses. In other words, I decided to keep a couple of chickens. What a delight it has been. I'm a city girl and all of this is a new exciting experience for me. I am eager to learn and appreciate any helpful advice from my fellow members.

Currently I have a rooster called Rout a bantam and my newest addition is a hen called Hennessy. Right now I am enjoying Rout' s mating dance to entice Hennessy. So far she is not interested.

Congratulations on your new lifestyle, and welcome to BYC.  Be aware that you are dealing with very addictive creatures, and soon your world may very well be filled with many more birds.

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! I'm so glad you have found your chickens to be a delight big_smile.png It's a great hobby to have, they are so relaxing as you watch them go about there chicken business. I'm sure your flock will grow and grow. There seems to be no stopping that happening!
I'm sure Rout would be more than happy with more girls. More girls for him would also stop any over breeding of your two you have right now.

Wishing you the very best of luck for the future and enjoy BYC frow.gif

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Congrats on your retirement and entry into poultry! Yorkshire coop is right, the more females your rooster has the easier it will be for the girls. One roo can easily handle 8-10 females.

It's nice to hear you are enjoying your birds, thanks for joining us!
