Feeding Practices

For sustained laying I would provide free-choice access. That means they have access to it all the time. If environmental conditions fluctuate a lot then instead of a layer formulation I would use a flock raiser and also make available free-choice access to oystershell. When is gets hot feed intake can go down which can then limit protein intake to levels insufficient for sustained egg production. The flock raiser has more protein.

Benefits are limited. They will eat them find but the nutrients you are trying to recycle are more easily acquired from other dietary sources. Eggshell I would direct to compost pile and try to meat calcium and phosphorus requirements via another route.
