Our 26 more chicks from Murray McMurray arrived this morning! Everyone is in the brooder keeping warm and eating and drinking. Zero losses from shipping.

Yay! That's great news! " src="http://files.backyardchickens.com/img/smilies/yesss.gif" />I can't view it here at work, but I bet your live feed is really jivin' now!

Well phooey....

Instead of six Black Australorp hens, I received seven Black Jersey Giant hens. Not a bad breed as far as I can tell, but still not what I wanted. (yes, I had the "allow substitutions" option checked...my own fault.)

Did lose one of the BO from M McM. No idea if it was a male or female though. Also received an extra Red Star, but of course it's a male.

your set up is so nice!! sorry you didn't get the chicks you wanted. Are you certain that the "extra" chick is male?

Thank you. It says "Red Star - Bonus Chick - Male" right on the list of chicks.

So originally my plan was to just lift the lid off the brooder every time I needed access, but I got tired of that real quick. Today's job was to add a hinged opening to the brooder for easier access.
