What is a reasonable price to ask for bourbon reds 9mths old? I listed them on Craigslist at $55 for jakes and $65 for jennys. I felt that was around what everyone else was asking, and know I have way more invested. 1 guy contacted me wanting my entire lot at $30 a bird. Needless to say I was deeply insulted. Am I way off? This is a hobby, I love the breed and enjoy raising them. I am by far no expert and only in my second year at this.

That's what I thought too. I figured i was leaving a little wiggle room for dickering. This guy wanted to buy my entire lot. Which I felt really wierd about. I know turkeys are food and I'm ok with that. I felt like there was a dark side to this guys motives. Not mom and pop looking for wholesome dinner or to enjoy having a flock.

Turkey prices are entirely dependent on your local market. Your prices may or may not be correct for your area. They would be too high for my area.

Don't get insulted over what someone offers for anything you are selling. If their offer is too low for you, just turn it down.

Selling adult turkeys is a money losing proposition. To make any money off of them, you need to sell them as day old poults so you don't end up with all the expense of feeding them.

Your correct R2elk. I shouldn't have gotten so emotional about it. I did restrain myself and did simply respond No. I checked what other folks had thiers for and it was about the same as mine. Happily today I have a buyer for a Jake who is extremely elated I have some to choose. That is the kind of dealing I enjoy. Not so much as price.

How much would you say blue slates are for a adult pair

This is something that can only be determined by your local market. I recently sold a pair of Self Blues for $70. Around here a neighbor is getting $40 each for his crossbreed hens. Your area may bring more for adult heritage turkeys, the same amount or even less. You have a much larger population base which could lead to higher prices or because there is also the likelihood that there are more available, the prices could be less.
