New babies are here and getting cozy (with pics)

I've still only named three out of the 21 chicks...I figure their names will come once individual personalities emerge! Right now, they're identified by colored zip tie leg bands. I'll probably get numbered ones when they've grown...just so I'm not the only one who can figure out who's who if I have a chicken-sitter and there's a problem!

Yeah I figure the same - I'll get to know em a bit better in a week too. I worry about keeping names straight - my parents had six human kids and couldn't even get our names right half the time. Twenty-one I think I'd name them all Marlin Jr. lol! (Finding Nemo reference)

Not sure what to do with EE #3, as she is the last one to learn how to use the water bottle. I don't know if she actually has yet, but she is the only one I have not seen use it, and the others are constantly clicking at it. Every time I go down to visit them, I show her how to click it with her beak, but she refuses to try it on her own. I hope she is going to get this tonight. I don't want to be worrying about her all day while I'm gone at work tomorrow.

I feel sooo much better now - I finally saw the last chick take to the water bottle. I've been worrying about her all day at work thinking she might be severely dehydrated by the time I got back. Thank goodness.

It's amazing how much personality they have even on day 2. I feel like each of them is vying for queen bee though. There has been a lot of pouncing and beak tapping. If one starts preening her wings, another will pop over and quizzically stare at the wing as if it might be good eatins. A few have even tasted at times. Like human babies, they seem to think everything is potentially food at this point.

So far, my three EE's seem to be the ringleaders, always pouncing and leapfrogging each other. The twins (Australorps) are coming in second with their "I want what you got" routine. And my Golden girl is just a sweetie who leaves everyone alone and likes to nap and climb up to perch on the branch. Turns out my "sweet" brown EE who cuddled up to me yesterday might be a little liar lol! She is a firecracker sometimes! :)

I'm having fun. Can ya tell?
