How do i get rid of lice on quail?

for the last couple of weeks my quail have been puffed up so i put them on a dewormer food and nothing happened.i checked them over and discovered that they had lice or lice eggs (white dots on theit skin and feathers?).I am desperate to get rid of them because my quail have had them for a long time without me realising and i dont want them to be unhappy.

Please help me.

I have used diatomaceous earth on my grandmas chickens when hers had bugs makesure u use food grade works like a charm

shave one side then light the other side on fire, spear fleeing lice with tooth pick. Seriously though, there is louse powder that you may look into if DE doesn't work for you. I saw see it time to time on some of the poultry supply shops online.

I've used food grade DE in the past and it worked very well and I didn't have to worry about chemicals. I bought a 50 lb bag from a hardware store for $9 or so 2-1/2 years ago. I've still got about half of it left, maybe more. It's a lot cheaper from a feed or hardware store, just make sure it isn't for pools. Our hardware store chain started as very rural stores, so that's why they carry the animal safe DE.

If you actually want them to go away use sevin dust in a pan full of sand and let them dust in it.
