I need help! I have a week old chick that started acting kind of down a few hours ago. She doesn't want to play eat or drink. Then we noticed she pooped clear. This is our first time ever having them and I don't know what to do. She won't even lay down to sleep. I'll hold her and rock her and she will sleep. She just acts super really tired and I don't know if it means anything. Thanks

The best course of action is to quarantine her, clean our the cage and treat her with Corid. It sounds like cocci to me. It's very common, but can wipe out an entire flock.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad to have you join us. I'd suggest putting electrolytes / vitamin supplements in the water. I'm no expert when it comes to diseases, but you could post this question on the section "emergencies / diseases / injuries and cure" in the hope that you may get additional advice.

If you check out the Learning Centre, you'll find a whole host of resources on all things chicken. Your state thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area (just type your state in the search box). In fact, the search box should become your best friend

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

x2 on CTKen's suggestion to check in with the emergency forum:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Any time you have a chick (or full grown bird) that isn't acting it's usual healthy self, isolation is the first step to protect the rest of your birds. It will also be better for the one not feeling well as there is less chance it will be picked on.

Good luck!
