Chicken with injured leg

Thread Starter
My Barred Rock started limping 8 days ago and at first she would only want to lay down in the dirt. We immediately took her away from the flock because they were ganging up on her. There were no signs of injury and she could still curl her toes, still wanted to roost on our kitchen chair any chance she got to get out... No signs of bumble foot. We have been keeping her in a container in the garage and feeding her like a queen. Every so often we let her mosey around the yard, but she still has a bit of limp. How long should we keep her confined before seeking more serious help? We have been giving her baby asprin. Not sure what else do. Any advice is appreciated.

You might be best off posting on the emergency forum to see what suggestions you can get to treating her limp:

Until she is strong enough to get away from being picked on, I wouldn't recommend putting her back with the flock. Chickens can be pretty ruthless to weaker birds.

Good luck!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Please keep her separated from the flock,  the others will end up killing her.  That's how the bird brain works,  anything that is different, ill, injured  is dealt with in severest fashion.
