When did your pullet start laying?

My Cream Legbar is 30 weeks old as of today and not a single egg! Is this normal?

There is a wide range of "normal" when it comes to onset of production.  Is your bird from hatchery/production type lines or from a breeders show quality lines?   The focus of the breeding for a given line can have an impact on the overall production and rate of maturity.  Also there is the factor that your girl "came of age" during the shorter daylight hour period of the year which can influence even first year layers.  What are you feeding your girl?  Are there other birds currently housed with her of production age and are they in production?  Is she showing signs of physical readiness to lay?

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

We got her directly from a breeder when she was a day old. Our mature layers stopped laying from about mid-October until February 5th, but they seem to be in full swing now. We also got an Olive Egger on the same day as the Cream Legbar and she has yet to lay as well. I have not done the "squat test" on these two pullets, but I suppose I should! I'm just eager to see something in my basket other than brown eggs! :)
