I did my first hatch of chicks and they were born early Feb with a 100% hatch rate. Then started a 2nd hatch so I can incubate some eggs from my favorite hen, who wasn't laying when I did the first round...

Well, I set 10 eggs, but turns out my favorite hen is pure, and doesn't let my rooster mate her. The little stink! All 5 of her eggs were infertile, but thankfully I put 5 other eggs from 2 hens who gave me some interesting chicks my first incubation round and all 5 made it to day 18. It's day 21 and 2 chicks are out, one has piped but hasn't got much further yet and awaiting pips from the last 2 :D

Chick number 1 has been dubbed Calcifer. If I go by it's older siblings who hatched in the first batch, she may very well be a rooster.. out of the 2 siblings of hers I hatched in batch 1 the one that came out yellow was a roo and the black one still looks to be a girl, lol. I'm hoping I'm wrong and coloring has nothing to do with it, though! Maybe this yellow baby will be a girl. FX for me!

Buff Op hen/Barred Rock Roo mix. My buff op must be a mix because so far all 3 babies I've hatched from her have come out with feathered feet!

Yes, her big brother IS my profile picture!

Chick #2- Aang! She's a white EE/Barred Rock mix :)

The boy in my profile photo is a Buff Op/Barred Rock Roo mixture as well.Actually, he looked a lot like the one you replied to (Soot Sprite) when he was born. Calcifer in the first post is also another variation of my buff op/BR mixture. She (so far) appears to be a LOT more yellow with more of a black undertone. Quite fun! Here's the roo from my profile photo and his sister (better stay sister, don't go red Chicka!), both from their 3 week old photos (same mix, buff op/BR)
