New rooster

Hi, I have six hens (ages range from 2 to 3 yrs old). My brother in law gave us an 8 month old Bantam rooster three days ago. I was nervous that the rooster would bully the hens, but it's entirely the other way around. The hens are really mean to him! He is very scared of them and every time I check on him, he's in the corner by himself. He looks depressed and miserable! Anybody know if this is normal and how long it will take for them all to get along??

I don't know how long it will take but being a bantam he probably thinks he is much bigger than he is. My little bantam roosters rule the roost. It might help if you can keep them separate then where they can see each other and finally when introduced he has enough space to get away if necessary.
My bantam roosters don't take anything from anybody, but mostly it is for show. I'm sure in a bit you will be having fun with him.
 
Hi and welcome to BYC. Your new little fella will eventually fit in just fine. At the moment, the rest of your flock see him as an imposter and and a young one at that (because of his size) - in a couple of weeks they will be fine with him, once he gets a bit of confidence back.

Thank you for the warm welcome and advice. Tomorrow will be one week since we got him and the hens dont seem to mind him anymore, but he just seems so depressed still. He sits in a nesting box inside the coop most of the time and when he does come out he stays by himself, tail feathers down. I'm really hoping he perks up :(
 
Took this pic of him this morning. His comb is turning black and I have no idea why...? Posted another thread about this. Any info is greatly appreciated!
