Hello Everyone -

My family and I are picking up our first 4 chicks (2 Buffs & 2 Easter Eggers) on Friday and we are so excited for this new adventure!

We are all set up with their brooder, however I am really nervous about the heat lamp and fires. We are keeping them in our basement. This may be a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone local has a Eco-glow or Premier1 chick brooder that they are not using this season that they would be willing to lend? We would be open to working something out in exchange.

Thanks in advance!

How old will they be? My husband just built me a large brooder box and I have been doing lots of reading and research and I am seeing that it says the first week chicks need to have a heated area at 100 degrees and then drop the temp 5 degrees each week down to 70 degrees, this is also dependent on the breed. Hope that helps

It's pretty much like a homemade eco-glow. If you haven't already, make sure to check out the learning center, and feel free to ask more questions!
