BEST chicken feed recipe, ever.

I know this is an older thread but I would love to reopen this. I am not really looking to make my feed cheaper than store bought but at least better quality. I have been ordering wheat, oats, peas and sunflower seed from New Country Organics. I love them as far as price and quality but it's the shipping. I pay 21.00 for a 50lb bag of wheat and that is a great price for organic but I pay 20.88 on top of that to ship. They are the best I have found as I need 50lb bags to make large batches for my chickens and hogs. Does anybody know of a better place? Thanks so much for any help.

You might check to see if you live in an area where Azure Standard ships. If you can get what you need from Azure Standard, you don't have to pay shipping, you just have to wait for your drop day.

I know this is an old thread, but I like the recipe and have a couple questions. First, is the parts by volume or by weight? Second, should the grains and seeds always be hulled (like sunflower seeds and sesame seeds)? Third, how much should the birds get per day? If they're free-ranging? Thanks for any help you guys can give and sorry if these questions were already answered and I missed it.

This seems like a lot of items for feed. Are these people doing it for just a few chickens or for 15-20? I just want to add something to commercial feed to supplement. I give my girls cracked corn and laying crumbles and pellets. They get appropriate things like watermelon, cabbage, peas. What can I add to their diet they're already receiving.

so would you think making this would be cheeper than lets say a $25 50lb bag of organic layer feed?
I found this at the hardware store $27.99 for 50lbs
