How long does it take to create an Olive Egger?

I am having trouble acquiring Olive Egger eggs, so I am wondering how long it would take if I started "from scratch"?  :idunno I have 6 Ameraucana chicks that are 2 weeks old. I have a Bielefelder Roo that is the same age? Would that cross work? As a newbie to hatching chicks, I am guessing that the eggs that are laid from that cross would be EE colored eggs, but that the chicks hatched from those egg:jumpy

I would get something with darker genetics than a Beilefelder for your brown side of the equation - a nice Welsummer, Maran, etc.   The resulting offspring would have the potential to produce the color of shell you are seeking.   I do have one green layer from an EE/standard brown cross but she doesn't produce the nice, deep, rich olive color that most associate with being an "olive egger"

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?
