Hello!
I'm using a Little Giant still air incubator with the egg turner. It is now day 18 and I'm concerned for the wellbeing of my chicks. Please tell me if if it is likely my eggs with not hatch.
-I candled the eggs 5 out of the 21 days (all healthy moving embryos)
-I'm using fertile chicken eggs from trader joe's refrigerator.
- Temp has been around 99.5- 101 the entire time.
- I have been placing water in the small water compartment at the bottom of the incubator every 3 days
- I do not have a humidity sensor, which sucks.
- I have kept one of the air circulation holes (out of two) open.
Here are the questions I have:
-When I place my chicks in lockdown, should i add more water to the bottom of the incubator every day? (this would mean i have to open the incubator)
-Should I remove all vent plugs (so far one is removed out of the two)
-Can the chicks stay for 24 hours after they are hatched in the 100 degree environment, or should i remove then as soon as they dry?
Thank you so much!
Sorry for poor grammar or hastiness, I want to get this post out so I get receive answers before I remove the eggs from the egg turner and place them into lock down in 6 hours!

Since you don't have a humidity sensor, have you been monitoring your air cells to see if they are progressing? Candle them, and draw around the air cell and see how they look according to this chart:

If the air cell is smaller than the day 18 line, take out your turner but do not raise your humidity for another day. (providing there are no pips.) I have a feeling that your temps might be a little low, since for still-air you want to have the temp 101, measured at the top of the eggs. this might delay your hatch for a day.

Good luck!

Thank you, I just candled them, but I'm not too sure if their too small or just right. What do you think?
I think they look too small:

Hi I sent you some picture, but they need to be approved, do you know how long that takes? They are pics of the candling. What should i do if they seem just right (the air bubble)? Thank you!

So I took your advice to wait another day, but should I still take the egg turner out/ not turn them again?
