"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Banti could be stealing the barbiebator right now! Watch out!!
Um, no. I already have way too many inubators! :lau (I'm perfectly happy with the LG, no need to upgrade, before you ask)
I admit I have issues, thats not even half of what I am setting
 :bow Now I really need to come over and powwow on the art of fitting eggs into incubators and making it seem like there are many less then there really is! :D
Gooserz is growing fast!!
Awww!
I didn't hatch these, but got them as 1 day olds. I think they are just as cute as they can be! They are about a week old now. Lemon and gold Friesians'.
:love

So far 7 out of 10 eggs have hatched 1 egg was ejected out of nest a couple days ago but it wasn't forming and 2 left in nest going to give them a couple days unless she removes them first will post a pic in the am. Right now there are 3 yellow and 4 black with yellow markings

Ok, My incubator did terrible and mostly my own fault, 4 of these guys were hatched by my 10 mo. silki and the little yellow one from the incubator(sultun). The temp of the incubator is at least 10 degrees cooler than the readings. A lot of the eggs got over heated and took longer than 21 days. Ones in lock down now were set April 4, and one hatched yesterday and one today. Will try to be patient and wait until Friday before I give up on them. I think my April hatch is done and if any more hatch I will be surprised. Momma silki took the first incubator chick under her wings and is teaching them all about foraging so awesome to watch.
I'm glad the broody is taking the chicks. Sorry your hatch didn't do to good, at least you know why for when you try again.

Out of 24 eggs 22 were good
So far 5 cream legbar hens hatched and 3 roosters!
There's a few more piping so hopefully more by
The morning

I am posting this for all those who are like me and are super impatient! I had a silkie chick pip around 2 am on Sunday night. Still pipped the same amount today Tuesday at 1:30pm. At 2:30 I decided I was going to help. I go look in the incubator and it has zipped completely by itself. It pushed out about an hour later and STILL had a bloody bleeding navel. If I would have intervened it probably would have bled to death. SO chick was pipped without zipping for 60 HOURS. I could see it was alive and cheeping so I left it go. Chick is doing great :) I am not against helping but you have to give them time to do it themselves....

60 Hours!

This April I think I've hatched over 30 Muscovy ducklings, 10 runner cross ducklings and two peachicks.

Awwwwww. I love peachicks.

Just hit 24 hours of lockdown, no pips yet. Ugh the anticipation is driving me crazy! I can't take it!

I wish I put them in a day earlier so they would at least be zipping by now. Hopefully I'll wake up to some pips in the morning...
