New England area breeders/hatcheries?

Yes, that seems to be a common misconception of geese!
I've had geese for over 7 years now and never been attacked by one. The only time I've ever been bitten is this time of the year. Geese on nests will bite when you go to take eggs (can you blame them?!) and the ganders can get protective over their geese and the nests. So can try to drive you away. But once breeding and nesting season is over, they go back to their calm, usual selves

That makes sense! Seems like most of the stories I've heard are during nesting season but they seem scary aha but some seem nice. I guess the scary bit was just that theyre so hig they could do damage. But I guess most of the problems come with geese in towns or cities nesting near buildings or really popular ponds and stuff. Last year there were geese feeding next to the pond and they went in the water when I came near but one got tall and stayed on the grass and I thought he was gonna attack and I walked all the way back around even though i was 1/2 way around lol but the other day i walked by 2 and they just walked away from me

Was looking at my subscriptions trying to find something else and saw this. I forgot about this thread!!! Whoops. Figured I'd bring it back!! Haha

I'm working on breaking into the chicken breeding but at the moment I breed Welsh Harlequin ducks, Khaki Campbell and Penciled Runner ducks.

I got my ducks from breeder flocks but am still learning about the breeds and will need to do a cull soon to make sure I am breeding to SOP.

I am starting with chickens this year and hopefully will have some hatchings next year. If all goes well I will have blue/black and splash barnveleders, lavender orpingtons and swedish hedemoras next year. I still have some hoops to jump through with the town and getting some breeding pens set up but I am hopeful.

Anybody have any or will have any soon or over summer, Speckled Sussex or Wyandottes??? Or more Orpingtons?

I think I may have convinced my mom to let me get a couple more chicks.

Thank you!! Either but I don't currently have an incubator or any hatching experience so chicks would probably be better.

Would like to learn eventually though if anyone also has any non expensive eggs :p

Chicks are probably best for now though :)

Just remembered this thread and figured I'd bring it back.

Also wanted to update that on August 1st I ordered 5 more chickens from Meyer Hatchery so my question above isn't necessary.

I got 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Partridge Rock, and 1 Meyer Meal Maker (their free chick, idk what breed).

I'm excited to finally get some breeds I've wanted for a long time :)

Although it would of course be nice to get some breeder birds eventually.

Although I just remembered there's now that now breeder directory so maybe this is useless. Especially since that's more organized. But oh well, there weren't many New England people on last I checked and so we can have our own thread hah
