Yes, that seems to be a common misconception of geese!
I've had geese for over 7 years now and never been attacked by one. The only time I've ever been bitten is this time of the year. Geese on nests will bite when you go to take eggs (can you blame them?!) and the ganders can get protective over their geese and the nests. So can try to drive you away. But once breeding and nesting season is over, they go back to their calm, usual selves
That makes sense! Seems like most of the stories I've heard are during nesting season but they seem scary aha but some seem nice. I guess the scary bit was just that theyre so hig they could do damage. But I guess most of the problems come with geese in towns or cities nesting near buildings or really popular ponds and stuff. Last year there were geese feeding next to the pond and they went in the water when I came near but one got tall and stayed on the grass and I thought he was gonna attack and I walked all the way back around even though i was 1/2 way around lol but the other day i walked by 2 and they just walked away from me
