Holland Chicken search

Thread Starter
I am looking for some Holland Chickens or hatching eggs to purchase in the Midwest. There are none listed on the Livestock Conservancy. I would like the barred or the white Holland - even both.

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! You might like to pop by your state thread and see if members in your area can point you in the right direction. State threads can be found here ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
There is also the buy sell trade section you can check out ~http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/67/buy-sell-trade
Once you have a post count of 20 you could post a wanted ad.

Good luck in your search and enjoy BYC frow.gif

I think that's going to be a tough breed to find just about anywhere. They are rare and according to one source I just looked at, it's speculated that the whites have disappeared (according to the Livestock Conservancy and Henderson's Handy Dandy Chicken Chart). I did a quick check with a couple online hatcheries...MyPetChicken says they can't find any, others do not include them in their offerings (Murray McMurray, Purely Poultry, Meyers, eFowl).

There are a few older posts here on BYC where people have found them at Sand Hill Preservation Center, they're in Iowa. I don't know if they still offer them or not but with a Google search you could find SHPC's phone number.

Good luck finding the birds you want!

You could try putting   "white Hollands," in the search box and see if anything comes up.   If not there is a chance something will turn up on google.  Would you know if they are known by any other name?
