Hello from NC!!

Hello all!!! Been lurking the forum for quite awhile, off and on since last year honestly. Ive learned so much already from everyone!!! So thank you for all yalls posts, questions, and answers!!! Us lurkers appreciate it!! Lol. Still fairly new to raising chickens, started last summer with 12 RSL "pullets" (6 weeks old I believe when we got them) that turned out to be mostly Roos..... Probably our fault at being mildly ignorant as to breeds and sexes at the time and that farmer knew it... Hoping to have a better turn out this year with the current chicks I've picked up at TSC. My flock currently consist of: 2 of my original hens from last year RSL, brother blue Andalusian/buff Orpington mixes about 5 months old, 8 2wk old BSL pullets, a possible Golden Comet sr (labeled as Red New Hampshires at TSC...), 4 leghorn pullets, and 2 BR sr. These last 7 listed being about a day to few days old I'm guessing.... Anyway. Thanks again!! Everyone seems awesome and helpful here from all the many posts I've read!!! ūüėä

Hey, Pammie, welcome to BYC.  As you now know, that farmer gave you a bad deal on those sex link 'pullets'.  Good luck with this batch of chicks.

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! What a shame your first bunch turned out to be so many Roos p, bad deal there on that farmers part! You have some lovely new breeds and I wish you the very best of luck with them. Your flock is growing nicely!

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat frow.gif

I hope the new batch of chicks turn out to all be females, you got quite an "initiation" with the RSL's.

If you check out the Learning Centre, you'll find a whole host of resources on all things chicken.

Thanks again everyone!! We are having a ton of fun with all of our chickens!! Watching the chicks growing has been fun, especially for my kids. My 2 yo is obsessed and checks on them frequently. Lol. And she has named my two Roos outside. So now we have Olaf and Kristof. Lol. (My toddlers love Frozen still can you tell??).

And yes I've been spending a lot of time going through the learning center and currently working my way through a 3500+ post DIY thread. Hubby and I are planning some tweaks this year so it has all been immensely helpful!!!
