i think that is a sexed linked mating the reds are ash red in lahores and are carrying blue or black

I have been reading this thread with much interest.
I am also confused about the colour genetics of my pigeons. I don't have your breed... I have Old Dutch Capuchines.
I like the black colour the best... but I only have one pair of black... and the female tends to only lay one egg... they are an old pair.
I usually get lots of red and white coloured ones... and when they breed together just more red and white!!!! I really want to get more black... and have not been able to get any black ones from my birds... excepts a single youngster.. but she is bad 'quality' because she has patchy markings and a black tail, and also her body is too long and thin.
Can anyone tell me in my red birds are carrying the genes for black, and if so, how to get some black ones from them?

lahores are not recessive red but ash red and ash is dominate

I do have a question for some of you that do you raise Lahore's, or any pigeons in that matter, that have feathers on their feet. I have four pairs of Lahores and the one pair the female has extra long feathers on her feet. After setting on a nest of eggs for a week or so sometimes the eggs get knocked out of the nest. I just randomly find them laying on the floor smashed open. Is this from her long feathers on her feet?

at the shawnee ok. show there were several shown and some in the sale pens that show is a area that has several breeders showing there are you close to that area if not maybe could get some shipped dont know if the lahore club has a site or maybe look in npausa.com or org is he national pigeon club maybe find a breeder there if not maybe can find one

I'll have to check out the npausa.com page. I hope they can put me in touch with pigeon breeders who may have them. I know a breeder in Cali who will ship, and I'll get a couple of pairs from him. But I really want that Blue. Thanks for the information.
