Preparing the incubator for eggs

It's been a few years since we've hatched any eggs but it seemed like we just threw a bunch in our old Hovabater, turned them a couple times a day and in 21 days we had chicks, ducks and even a gosling! So now I'm getting eggs next week and I've pulled the ole Hovabator out, set it up and turned it on! I can't get the temperature below 105℉. I have filled the tray with water. Will the temperature drop when I put the eggs in? Is a full tray too much water? Also, the wick for my hygrometer is lost. Where can I get just the wick?
 
Did you calibrate your thermometer to make sure its accurate? 105 is too high. If you add eggs with that temp, it'll drop for a while and be right back up there once the eggs warm up. It'll cook them. If your incubator has a built in thermometer and that's what your going by, I'd calibrate another thermometer and stick it in to see if that's right or not.

Not sure about the wick, sorry, but I'd imagine you could contact the manufacturer and get a replacement.
