So, my father inlaw had a great idea to get my six year old chicks for her birthday. We were planning on getting chickens this summer.. so im not upset, just unprepared (in eastern canada ). Any advice would be great. From what ive been told theyre 1 weeks old silkies x cochins
im attaching a few pictures, the brooder is just temporary.
any guess on what color they are/will be?

I'm not sure what silkies/cochins look like as chicks, but I have to say that two of them look suspiciously like Easter Eggers(the first two in the first pic-not the black one). Have fun with them!

if they are silkies the brown ones would be considered partridge color. I've not seen silkie cochin cross but that could explain lack of silkie crest and feathered feating. Does any have feathered feet? black skin? Maybe the cross took out these things? how about extra toes? These are all silkie attributes. The Browns also look like Easter Eggers??? Whatever they are they sure are cute! ♡♡♡♡ SO adorable!

I thought the same thing. But I would be happy with Easter Eggers. The progeny of everything I have crossed with something that has feathered feet and legs all have feathered feet and legs so I doubt the chipmunk looking babies are cochin crosses.

That's was what I was wondering as well??Both silkie and cochin are feather footed so it would seem logical offspring would be feather footed as well? I would think?? if I'm wrong please correct me.
