Hi,
We currently have a broody hen who is sitting on an African goose egg. I couldn't find how long the incubation period is for African geese, so I was wondering if anyone here knows? Also, will the development of the egg be slower if it's under a hen? Thanks!

28-30 days for geese and only 21 for chickens I hope your hen doesn't quit on you. I'd have a back up plan like an incubator on the ready just in case. Not sure as far as development You may have to spritz the egg though lets see if @jchny2000 has any ideas.

The incubation temps the same. Once the chicks have hatched, she may leave the goose egg however. I would start looking to borrow an incubator, or find someone with a broody for a backup plan. I have had Muscovy hatch geese but not chickens yet.

The goose egg is due to hatch in a few days :)
