Goats!!!

ISO of a large breed dairy Doe in the Southern Nevada/Southern Utah area....My good friend has a child that can only drink goats milk and they are wanting to retire the older doe... Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Go to adga.net. That is the web site of the American Dairy Goat Association. Ask them to send you a list of dairy goat breeders in your area. Or you can telephone ADGA. You can find the number on line. Once you have the list, start calling. While the breeder you contact may not have anything for sale, they may know someone who does. In the meantime, you ought to be able to find goat milk in the local supermarket either ultra pasteurized, powdered, or canned. If nothing else, I am sure you can find it on amazon.com.

um, i think i have to disagree. My bucks where only $75 each, +he banded them for me for no charge, he gave excellent tips, and the goats where perfectly happy and healthy little boys. They had been fed Purina-goat-chow. (Sweet feed) which i now use, and the goats LOVE it. And they lived in a HUGE fenced-in field. He just wanted to sell some goats to make room for future ones. All the goats on the premises where in love with the guy. I got to meet the mothers and fathers of the bucklings to make sure they where happy and healthy, + he agreed to help us give them the first shots when summer rolled around. (It wasn't the goat's first shots, it was ours (lol) we had never gave a goat a shot before.) Plus he said he would do it free of charge and just wanted to check up on them and make sure they where still happy & healthy. Sometimes people just want to make room in their field, or they find themselves no longer able to take the time with them, and sell for cheap. The man was just a sweet grandpa wanting more space.
NEVER buy free or cheap goats. A quality, healthy goat will be $200+. When people are selling below that or giving away for free, you can be sure that they have some problems. Disease, temperament, or other problems. You get what you pay for.
Sometimes cheap prices are perfectly innocent. You just have to be careful. I don't mean to disagree but i wanted to show that sometimes things are perfectly innocent.

I'm not sure if you mean "quality" as in, registered. But if you don't i'm not sure what your trying to say.

Probably meaning quality in whatever your purpose for those goats are. Your goats are pets, so as long as they're healthy and friendly you're happy. Mine are milk goats, so they need to be friendly, produce lots of milk, be good kidders, etc. Other people have meat goats, so they need to be meat quality....

At least that's how I took that :)

Yeah but even then it's not really true because it varies by location and I think NEVER was a little extreme. If you want pets it's fine. But you should be discerning and visit the farm to see if they're healthy or not before buying.

But for example, around here, wethers are usually like $125 or $150, which is below $200. And that includes registered goats from reputable breeders, good dairy lines, etc.

Bucks and does are well over $200, usually like $250 or $300 up to $350 or sometimes over $400 for really high quality ones, yes but wethers are cheaper and they're still perfectly good goats.

So again, I think it depends on location as well as gender so NEVER was a little extreme...

BUT.

It is a good guideline, especially for beginners, who might accidentally end up with a sick goat, so I think that's what was meant but still

And some people don't care about papers, doesn't necessarily make it quality. And around here sometimes even good breeders sell the mixed, unregistered, or lower quality animals for a lot less but they're still healthy

Hah, i didn't even think of the whole, Good milkers, good family line etc. I thought that person was attacking my goats like they ain't the best thing in the world cause they weren't $400. Got a little defensive.. Lol lesson learned.

All good! I get super defensive about my animals hahaha. And your goats are lucky to have such a loving mama!
