I have scoured many posts on BYC , but cant seem to find anything like my situation.
I have 6 three week old chicks ,(4 sex link ,2 RIR) and 6 two week old white rock chicks.
One of my RIRs got trapped underneath the feeder the other day for about 30-45 mins when I noticed I had only 11 chicks in the brooder. I FRANTICALLY started searching for my missing chick , only to find "Little Red" (will refer him/her as a female for the time being) standing in the cone shaped area underneath the feeder. When I found her she seemed startled/shaken up but otherwise fine. That evening I noticed her wings hanging low and she just seemed out of it. She just stands/walks hunched over with her neck tucked back some (the way a vulture walks/stands). She eats and drinks without issue, but she RARELY sleeps laying down like the other chicks and hasn't grown since the incident (3 days ago). Her neck feels stiff and boney and crooked (almost U shaped) . I am treating her for wry neck JIK, though it doesn't LOOK/SOUND like what I'm reading wry neck to be , but I cant seem to find anything else like what she has anywhere. The picture is a bit hard to see...its all I could get. She was NORMAL up until the incident. I don't know what is going on or what else to do. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. First time chick mom here.
UPDATE!!: Little Red is running around!!. She can lay don to sleep, is no longer a zombie chick, and her wings have perked back up. Shes "flying" around the brooder now and can move her neck backwards to groom. She still needs to "unhunch", but treating her for wry neck has seemed to work Knock.On.Wood!! Going to try the scrambled egg thing, but SHES IMPROVING!!!!
