The chicks weren't able to get out of the box yet. Do you think the rat could get out of a slippery tall box?

From the top of the feeder or waterer? Probably. Or the chicks could have hopped up there and then hopped out.

Possibly. I still can't find my rat though. The rats have gone missing before when the chicks were already hatched. I'm hoping it's just a coincidence because I would be able to look at my rat the same way.

Just finally found my rat he has no blood around his mouth.

I honestly don't think he would kill a chick he had never killed any others chicks.
