Hi :)

I'm hoping someone here can help me with the breed of one of my pullets.

Quick history: A friend of mine bought some fertilized eggs in November, and when the six chickens that hatched were four weeks old (i.e. too big for the brooder) my partner and I happily 'adopted' them. They started off in a separate enclosure inside our older chooks' run and had their own little 'grass time' tractor, and we gradually introduced them all with no problems. Five (sadly) turned out to be boys, and we've recently processed three. Our two remaining boys happily coexist (so far) and seem to share responsibility for the hens :)

My question is regarding the one girl. My friend was told that the eggs were a mix of Australorp and Rhode Island Red. Four of the cockerels were clearly Australorps, and one a RIR, but I've done a fair bit of reading and Googling and I can't figure out what breed the pullet (we call her Butter) is!

I took these photos today...she is 21 weeks old. The first few show her pale colour more realistically - the last picture is in shadow and makes her look darker than she is :/ It's not necessary for us to know what breed she is, but I'm really curious as she is so gorgeous and so different from the boys!

Thanks in advance :)

She is probably a mix.

She's a barnyard mix. With those light earlobes and dark legs, there was something else in the parentage mix than what you were told.
