Hello,
I was adding more water to my incubator and I dropped the egg tray from about 4 inches and the eggs shook when they landed. Is an impact like this enough to damage developing embryos? No shell cracks are visible.
Thanks

Yes. A sudden jolt from four inches could disrupt development; possibly causing death. Good news is that a drop of four inches MAY NOT have caused damage to all the eggs. Also, if the eggs are closer to hatching damage is less likely.

With shipped eggs it is the jolts that cause the most damage as it occurs no matter how well the eggs are packaged to prevent cracks/breaks.

Good luck.

A lot of how much of an impact it will have had on the eggs/chick will depend on how far developed they are.

that all is ok.

It happens to the best of us. No cracks is a great sign though! I've dropped eggs and busted them all to heck, so chin up, it could've been worse. Give them a couple of days and candle them to see how they're doing :)

Similar thing happened to me was putting the tray in my incubator, didn't drop the tray but sort of clipped the side of the incubator and gave the eggs on that end of the tray abit of a jolt and a few sorta popped out of the hole in tray, only seem the rattle about 10 of the eggs what r the chances of anything bad happening to those eggs?? it is day 3 of incubation

As long as they aren't broke/cracked and they weren't jarred enough to dislodge air cells they should be fine.
