Hi everyone! This is my first time on here and I'm hoping I can gain lots of knowledge and wisdom from you. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions later but here is my first one. I have two Wyandotte chicks both 3 weeks old. One is developing faster than the other and showing her tail feathers. In fact all 3 of my chicks are sprouting their tail feathers but this one pretty girl. Could this be the early signs of a rooster or am I way over thinking this? First pic has no tail feathers. Second pic has them. Thoughts?

If he is behind on tail feather growth than there is a really good chance he is a he. Are his wing feathers shorter too? I have a Wyandotte sexing guide in my signature.

No no no no no I don't like this at all! Yes, his/her wing feathers are shorter as well. Looks exactly like the picture you sent me.

Well rats! She's like the runt of the litter. Everyone loves on her and she's always trying to burrow under the wings other girls. She's (he's) the baby....

Thank you for your response sideWing! Although I'm bummed now:(

you could also post photos at "what breed or gender is this." for more opinions. Sometimes sending pictures when the birds are older can make a difference.
