Lethargic 1 week old chick

I suppose as in nature some just dont have what it takes to make it no matter the circumstances. When I was a kid and we lost one dad always said better now than later, we dont want to breed poor genes into our flock. A bit harsh when I was young but still true

Ya, I did kindof think better on the first day than later when I was attatched. I also ended up buying more chickens than I originally planned so I guess this evens things out... I was rooting for her though. Poor thing ;(

I lost my first flock of four birds at 16 weeks old due to heat stroke. When I found them they were barely alive. It was extremely heart breaking but I learned a lot from that. In your case with such young chicks I think the only lesson to learn is that they don't all make it unfortunately. Survival of the fittest. Nature is cruel. Sorry for your loss.
