Newbie Chicken Lady Here!

Thread Starter

Hi all, I'm new to this chicken stuff, just got my first 6 chickens Friday and they laid the 1st 2 eggs Monday each egg was small, irregularly shaped with 3 yolks!  I have googled the 3 yolk phenomena and found that it's kind of rare, but what are the odds, 2 in one day!  2 eggs laid yesterday and one of them broke in the nest, but it also had 3 yolks!  haven't cracked the remaining egg, but may have to take a pic to show you all!

My chickens are all the same breed, Golden Sexlinks

Ive always had cats, but I'm loving the chickens.  Waiting for them to acclimate to their new home so I can let them wander in my back yard occasionally.

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your new chickens clap.gif I've never heard of eggs having three yolks but I'm sure if you pop by the egg laying section members there should be able to help you. Here is the link ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/18/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying
Are your sexlinks Young? Onetime so when pullets are just starting to lay their egg laying machines can get things a bit wrong and you can get some funky eggs.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC frow.gif
