Hey, I just recently joined BYC although I've been looking at the site for a while now. I'm brand new at wanting to raise my own chickens. The breed of chicken I've chose to go with is Buff Orpingtons, mostly for their dual purpose qualities. So anything I can learn will be helpful and much appreciated!

Buffs are great. We finally picked up 3 of them. They are so friendly it is crazy when compared to our Wyandottes. Will be trying to hatch out Barred Rocks startinf this weekend. Chickens are addicting. We now have a duck and a couple of rabbits too. If one of our Buffs isn't a roo, we are going to find one. Best hobby ever which helps feed us too.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. Your state thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread). In fact, the search box should become your best friend

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

I'm new. And I cannot for the life of me figure out for the life of me how to start a new thread!!!! HELP! I've even read the tips on how to hit can't find what they are talking about.

Drea7876 I use my phone so I'm not sure if a computer is any different. But I went to "forums" then scroll down to "social" then I click on "new member introductions" then at the top right of my screen I clicked the arrow and it brings down some options then I just chose "start a new thread"
