We are not sure what else to do. One of our RIR has been sick for a while now.

We initially thought that she might have been broody as she was staying on the nest. Then after about a week we noticed she wasn't looking to well and had lots of nasty poop on her bottom and started to wonder if she was egg bound. Brought her inside and gave her a warm bath to wash the poop off and hopefully relax her some. That is when we realized she was covered in mites. So we got her dry and then treated her and confined her to her own area. We have daily been treating and cleaning for mites for almost two weeks and she is only getting worse.

Now she barely opens her eyes, she falls forward or to the side (about 5 days falling and daily decline). Has lot so much weight. Her comb in paleish and I know she is dehydrated.

She will drink water if I hold the water container up about head level. Taking maybe 10 pecks on her own. She was prior to last night taking 4-5 pecks at eggs. We had her on electrolyte water until last night. Last night and this morning she has drank water to treat for worms on the advice of our local feed store. I am not sure that she is drinking much at all when we are not holding the waterer, even though we have it elevated in her pen for her.

I really don't know what else to do and wonder if she is just suffering and experiencing a slow approach to the inevitable.

Any input?

Thanks, we are just not sure what else to do.

What are you worming her with? What are you treating the life and mites with?
