Hey guys,
I've got a little bit of an interesting situation. I'm not entirely sure what is going on so I'm going to share some details and
see if you guys can help me figure this out.
Alright, so me and my dad built our own incubator. It seemed to work fine so we ordered some eggs and popped them in. At first everything seemed okay but then we had some really cold nights. The incubator would cool down significantly so I'd raise the temp. and then in the morning it would be way too hot. >.< Long story short I lost my whole hatch except for one egg.
Today is the day it should be hatching. It is definitely still alive, I can see it moving when I candle so I have a little hope. The problem is that the chick isn't nearly as big as I think it should be at this point.
So I'm thinking, 1 : It's been damaged and wasn't able to grow right and probably won' live.
But something else occurred to me. This is a bantam chick, but the egg it's in is as big as a small standard size egg. Is it possible that it just looks small because the egg is too big??? Just curious.
Even if that is the case, is it possible it might even be able to hatch? Even then it seems unlikely. :/
Any one with ideas or experience???
