I'm new to the site, nice to meet everyone. Chick season is among us and boy does it mean chick fever!!! I'm from Kansas. My adult chickens include 4 Black Astralorp, 1 RIR, and one mean Barred Rock roo named Dino. ;) Chick Fever included the impulse buy of 8 more chicks so time for a new coop. Haha hope to add all 8 to the run let's hope for girls. Have a nice one lads and ladies.

I grew up in KS! What part are you from? I was in the NE, around Topeka/Lawrence. You have a pretty active state thread called Consolidated Kansas, just put that in the Search box and it should pop right up.

What breed of chicks are you getting?

I too have chick fever! I just got my chicks the end of October so they're only turning 20 weeks old Monday but there's some breeds I had wanted that theyy were sold out of. Well turn out my local feed store is getting them in!!!! And other local feed stores apparently are getting one or both of the breeds too and later in the season (mine is April, some are june july august) which may work better for me. And I just really really want more. So I completely understand lol

Hiya, nice to meet you. I'm from NE Kansas about 30-40 minutes from Lawrence area. :)

Already picked them up, they're a little over a week old now. The other layers are doing great so I picked up mostly ornamentals; 4 straight run Bantams (1 is D'uccles and 3 are Cochins), picked up an Americauna roo, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets, and a RIR pullet. Went again today and successfully talked myself out of more chicks and bought a couple more ducklings instead.

Haha yes, it's hard to go in and say maybe I'll get 4 more and before you know it you're walking out with 10. :)
