Hi, everyone, I'm a newbie with chickens, I've only had chickens for less than a year. My beautiful buff orpingtons insides are outside. I bathed her in warm water and gsntly pushed sverything back in, but an hour later its out again. Is there anything i can do to save her? Shes not a year old yet. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Welcome to BYC. Apply honey or hemorrhoid cream to the tissue inside and outside the vent to help reduce swelling. Keep trying to push it back in, and hopefully it will eventually stay in. Try to stop her from laying by placing her in the dark for 16 hours overnight every 24 hours. Keep the vent clean, and make sure that she is able to pass droppings. Some of the chickens don't make it, but it is well worth trying to help her.

thanks so much. She's one of my buff orpingtons and I'd hate to lose her. I have her in a covered cage now. I will try your suggestions.

I bathed her again and used the preparation h inside and out and her insides are staying in this time. I think she's going to be alright. Thank you so much.

My little Miss Rose is not doing well. She's eating and drinking but she has a prolapsed vent again. Ive put it back inn 3 times today and its out again.i
she's still in a cage by herself and i keep it covered for about 18 hours a day so she wont lay.. what now? What are my options.

It's still early, so I would just keep pushing it back in once or twice a day, and continue the preparation H. Prolapse can occur again later, but she still may not be healed yet. Has she laid anymore eggs?
