Hi one of my pullets got the plucked on her neck taking some skin. No broken bones. Realigned her neck gently. I wasn't sure she was going to make the night but she did. Yay. So now comes to the neck with extreme injuries I've always used a steroid paste. With a basically topical wound with some skin pulled what would you recommend besides keeping it clean. She's not to eat, although she's witchy enough I've considered it. Lol. She ("the gryfin") is currently on a mat in the tub. She upgraded from the milk crate I had her in while her neck muscles calmed down from everything. She is in pain. Heavy breathing. Considering giving her a penicillin shot in case of infection but also not sure of dosage and where would be the least painful injection site. So for the wound itself, what do you recommend? Antibiotic based creams? Antibiotics and numbing agents? Vetricine? Oral medication for the time being is out of the question as she has decided that my water and food offerings were offensive.

talk to casportpony and eggcessive, they know dosages better than I do but I would spray with vetrycin and then pack the wound with triple antibiotic ointment, and don't use anything with a pain killer in it most pain killers are toxic to chickens.

Even medical grade injectable lidocaine? I'll hit them up. Thank you so much for the info. This site is so informative. Diseases I had never encountered and bumble foot remedies I had never thought about. Very cold people. Again thank you. You rock.
