Just joined up, my friend suggested this site to me. She comes here a lot to ask questions and get answers for her chickens as well
I am a first time chicken owner
I have only 2 chickens now because I just found one dead this morning :(
I keep them in an A frame chicken tractor, and I have to say they are spoiled!
I'm hoping to eventually get more ladies to lay me lots and lots of eggs!

Welcome to BYC! Sorry to hear you lost one today! This is a wonderful place to peep in on from time to time and lots of good advise! Good luck!

Hi and
welcome-byc.gif
- glad to have you join us. Sorry about the loss of one of your chickens, but good luck in adding new ones in the future.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

Hi and welcome to BYC. I'd suggest that the learning centre is the best place to begin https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

In the centre you will be able to access info on everything chicken, but also how to use this site. Basically, we are all chicken (or other bird) enthusiasts who like to share information, and help other members with chicken related issues. Lets say, for example, you have a chicken that is sick and you don't know what to do... You would go to the Forum Nav section (left of scree above a post) and scroll down until you see "Emergencies, Disease, Injuries and Cures" - click on that. Then, you will see under a post "Start a New thread" - click on that and post your question. Once you've done this, other members will read your post and try and help you out.

If you have a question, its probably better to type the subject matter into the search box (under the BYC logo at the top of the page) and see what has already been posted on the issue, then, if you feel you need further answers, or reassurance as to what you are planning to do is OK, then submit a post.

Hope this helps a little. Don't worry if you post in the wrong section, we will all see it and try and help out. You'll soon get the hang of it!

All the best
