Our 3 yr old rir was sick a month ago. We brought her in and supported her. We tubed in Nystatin and flagyl on advice from U of Guelph. She seemed to recover. Last week she showed same symptoms and so we brought her in again. Diarrhea, not eating, bluish comb, fluid filled crop. I began the meds again. Yesterday morning we tubed her. No problems. Then an hour later she died. Now I feel that I put the liquids into her trachea. Can you do this without knowing and Would it take so long for her to die? I can't stop crying about it.

I'm so sorry for your lose.<3 Some time these things just happens, I know that sounds repetitive,but honestly it was probably something that she wasnt going to survive from anyway. She sounded pretty sick. And I know how hard it is to see your pet sick and not get better. I had a new Barred rock pullet that was seriously sick for a day with similar symptoms and the next day she was dead. Chickens sometimes can be so fragile and then so strong at other times. Dont beat your self up about this<3 I'm sure you took the best care you could of her. She was well loved. Even though she was sick and YOU took great care of her, at the end of the day thats all you can do and as hard as it is thats fine because you took such good care of her.
 
Thank you very much. We cannot find a vet to help us. We go to University of Guelph but we can't treat them all this way. The last girl we took to Avian Medicine is HAPPILY still alive but cost us $900. I am thinking of taking Peabody's body to U of G for a post-mortem but it would only be for closure. I just can"t believe I placed the tube incorrectly, I have been tubing chickens for a few years. I believe she was very sick, but she recovered a month ago. from the same symptoms. I tubed her during that illness twice a day with no problems.
