Hi all, I was wondering if you could tell me the sexes of my 2 three week old partridge Wyandotte chicks. Dazzle is the larger chick and is a day or two older than pip.

Thanks in advance.

It's a bit young to say for sure. Wyandottes have rose combs, so you don't see comb sticking up as soon as a straight combed breed.

Your best indicator will be coloring as they feather in. Partridge males have black breasts, females have brownish-red breasts.

Pip on the left and Dazzle is on the right. Pip turned out to be a cockeral.

When do they feather in?

I noticed that his wattles and comb went red before he started to feather out, which indicated he was a cockeral. His breast feathers started coming in when he was about 4 weeks old as partridge but as he has grown they been replaced by black feathers.
