My fresh egg smelled funny after cooking it. What do I do? and has anybody ever have this happen to them before?

I am I new hen owner, and found 2 hens in the woods. We asked everybody if they were theirs or not, and everybody said "no, they are not mine." So, my family and I decided to keep them. We bought them a coop, a 40lb bag of chicken crumbles, and have been feeding them lettuce, tomatoes, and corn. We have had them for about 2-3 weeks and the just laid an egg today! My kids were so exited to see the egg! But... when we started cooking the egg, it started to smell funny, almost like a rotten egg. It might of been the pan, or the food we give them. But how do I know they are ok to eat?

Welcome!  I'd throw that egg away, why chance it?  See how the next eggs look and smell, and maybe have the birds checked out and tested for common chicken diseases if necessary.  I've never had a fresh egg smell off when cooked, but I've never adopted foundlings either.  Mary
