Quail with Caged Birds?

I don't. They appear on Craigs list ever once and a while. Check there. or you could put a post on the Western Washington Poultry Group on facebook (assuming you live on the wast side)

Im thinking Society or Zebra. They will do well right? which should I choose?

Society finches are fine as long as you don't want the finches to reproduce. Societies will share a nest making proper brooding of eggs impossible. They do not discriminate against zebra finches and will share their nests too.

So clawstar, I am interested in getting a pair of button quail. I believe they will do fine with the societies and zebras and may help me keep my food source (seed scatter) down to avoid feeding the mice. Do you know a breeder in WA?

I am about to pull the trigger on about 20 quail in the next few weeks. Coturnix, not button (if that matters to you). Going to either drive to Cashmere to get them, or the breeder is going to meet me over on the west side as part of a trip they are already making. Maybe I can get a few extra and then sell them to you or we could coordinate a meeting with the breeder?

be careful I just saw an add that said a pair, yet both birds pictured seem to be males

Oh no worries. This is from a big meat breeder who usually just raises to butcher and freeze for sale whole. They just happen to be happy to sell live ones when someone asks. They are happy to sex them and give me whatever ratio of male to female I want. They don't have a reason to push males on customers since they all end up in the meat freezer anyway during normal business activity. Pretty nice opportunity. Just means driving to Cashmere! I am getting most likely 21 total for myself. 18 female, 3 male. 6 to 1 ratio to make sure the ladies don't get pestered. Adding another male and female to the order would be no biggie. And if the girl turned out to be a guy after some time, I would be happy to swap out him for one we know is a lady from my flock.

Could finch and Golden pheasant mix? They have a large size gap, both perch, only finch nest off ground.... 2 aviaries sounds best now...

I was told they can...

But my budgies and canaries were disappearing... and one day I saw one of my golden pheasants catch one that was on the ground and eat it in one go!!! So now I keep the preasants separate.

I have 5 coturnix quail on the bottom of an aviary, with canaries and finches, they all get along fine and there are no, inter-species squabbles. If your looking for a bird that is hardy, canaries have got you covered, they can survive much lower temperatures than finches, all they need is a small box to roost in, that is sheltered, possibly with a heat lamp.
