Hi there,
I bought these 2 beautiful birds as "professionaly sexed" Lavender Araucana Hens, from a reliable breeder.
However, I've seen a fair bit of hackle flaring displayed by at least one, maybe both, of these girls/boys.
Now I'm noticing a fair bit of redness in the combs and around the face.

Could someone with a bit more experience with Lavender Araucanas please take a look and let me know your opinion on the gender of these two?
Thanks very much! :)

Nic.

How old are they?

Their combs are awfully red, and it looks like they're getting stringy sickle feathers (at the base of the tail). I'd guess they're cockerels.

They are just under 7 weeks old.
I'm so disappointed! I think you're probably right though.
Thanks for the reply.

I do hope so!
Otherwise I may have to stop recommending them!
I'm awaiting a response so I'll post pics of the replacements here if the breeder plays the game.
