Guinea Fowl Breeder in NY ?

Thread Starter

Hello - Does anyone know of a guinea fowl breeder in NY (preferably in the Catskills/Hudson Valley area)? We would like to purchase/adopt 3-5 guinea hens or keets, and would prefer to buy/adopt local and pick them up instead of having them shipped.  We have 3 chickens that we spoil rotten, and the thought of having keets shipped to us doesn't seem as optimal as picking them up.  I have "googled" for hours and haven't had any luck finding a breeder or rescue organization.  Thank you !

Keep an eye on your local craigslist.  Also check around at your local feed stores.  Many of the smaller ones have bulletin boards where you can post a wanted ad and others can post for sale ads.  The feed store where I shop has sold guineas for me simply by giving my phone number to people who are looking for guineas.

You can also post a wanted ad in the Other Poultry - Birds & Hatching Eggs forum once you have made enough posts.  Another place to post this question is in one of the New York threads in the Where Am I? Where Are You! forum.

Good luck.

I live in Accord (Ulster County) and sell  guinea keets. I do put an ad on Craig's List... usually in April. I have roughly 4 dozen eggs from my rare birds... eggs are small so not sure if I will incubate. Can give you email if you are still interested.

Hi,

I just read of a previous inquiry about purchasing Live Guinea Fowl.

I, too, am interested in purchasing LIVE Guinea Fowl.

I live about 45 mins. South of Accord (Just off of Rt. 209) in Cuddebackville, NY.

Are you still selling them?

I must do a little more research to see if they would be suitable- We have 20 acres -it's on the Shawangunk Ridge-so it's hilly (not much flat ground).

I also have a 6 mo. old puppy and am wondering how Guinea Fowl and Dogs interact.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know about possibly purchasing them from you.

Thank You!

Patiana
