Hi all! I live in Central/East London and have always wanted chickens, so when we finally got a garden in December last year I immediately got a coop and put my name down for some rescue chickens, former commercial caged hens. Picked them up yesterday and they seem to be settling in even though they will never have seen the sun before. Just three, all Rhode Island Reds, named Enid, Elvis and Egg. They're already laying
I'm only going to let them wander the garden when I or someone else is there due to some enormous tomcats that prow the gardens, but I work from home so that's a reasonable amount of time anyway.
I've ordered jumpers for them because they're missing lots of feathers. I've also given them camomile tea (they loved it) and am making them porrage tomorrow (made from their own mash). Spoilt? They deserve it!
Lots of helpful advice on these forums - thanks to those who run it.
